Session 4 is about OUR STORY.
1 Peter 3:15 reminds us to be prepared to give the reason for the hope that we have.
At times, people may ask us, why we are a Christian. Being prepared helps us to be ready to share something with them. When I was a missionary, part of our training, was to think about this question – why am I Christian? And to be able to share something simply for no more than 3 minutes. It is easy to talk on and on and never get to the key point and the person may get confused or lose interest.
Here is a tool to help you think through your story:
We may feel – our story is no bestseller. But our story can connect with people. And it is a gift – of ourself to another.
The opening video gets us thinking…
We think not only about the story of why we believe in Jesus.
We think of other stories in our life. When God was present in pain. When he guided in a special way. When God provided. When God met us when we weren’t sure if he was there or real. There are other stories we will have…
The Hebrews were encouraged to tell the Great story of God’s action in their lives – at Passover each year. The Dad had to know it, to tell it in a way his children could understand.
Think about the stories of God’s action in our lives? How can we tell them – in a way a non Christian can understand?
